CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – When the Carolina Panthers take the field for Saturday’s wild card round playoff game, they will have a familiar face in the broadcast booth.
Panthers legend Greg Olsen and boothmate Joe Davis will be on the call for the Jan. 10 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams.
Olsen — who played for Carolina from 2011-2019 — was with the Panthers the last time they were in the playoffs. In fact, he scored a touchdown and was Carolina’s leading receiver in the team’s most recent playoff game, all the way back on Jan. 7, 2018.
He will be back at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, even if it’s in a very different role.
Since he retired, Olsen has become a favorite in the broadcast booth, not just among Panthers fans but football fans nationwide. The three-time Pro Bowl player’s success on TV is evidenced by his two sports Emmy awards.
Having Olsen — who still lives in Charlotte — on the call has brought more good than bad for the Panthers this season, with the team 2-1 in the three games Carolina has played with its former tight end in the broadcast booth.
Those two wins — against the Cowboys and Packers — were among the biggest the Panthers had in 2025. The loss came against the Bills, when quarterback Bryce Young was out with an ankle injury.
The Panthers will need the good Olsen mojo on Saturday, as they were listed as 10.5-point underdogs to the Rams. Winning as an underdog is nothing new to Carolina, though, as all eight of its regular-season wins this season came as ‘dogs.
Kickoff for Saturday’s game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. EST on Fox. WBTV will stream both pregame and postgame coverage online, on the WBTV News app, and on the WBTV Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire apps.
