As thousands of members of the Bills Mafia and a majority of the Buffalo Bills organization are getting ready to take a road trip to Jacksonville, Florida, for an NFL Wild Card Playoff game against the Jaguars, just about everyone with any connection to the team is super excited.

They have every right to be excited. The Bills have made the playoffs 8 out of the last 9 years, with the last appearances being consecutive years. That is a major accomplishment for a team that once held one of the longest playoff droughts in professional sports history, and given the team’s performance this year, many are hopeful the team will go deep into the playoffs.

However, while the Bills are 1-point favorites to grab a win in Jacksonville against the Jaguars in this first round of the playoffs, the road to Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, and Super Bowl LX isn’t going to be easy for Buffalo. Especially since the Bills have struggled quite a bit in one specific type of playoff game.

It’s Been A Long Time Since Buffalo Earned A Road Playoff Victory

With Buffalo traveling to play the Jaguars, one thing about the Bills’ playoff success over the last decade; the team’s struggles on the road in the playoffs. Since the team broke its playoff drought in 2017, they have played 5 road playoff games: three times in Kansas City, with other trips to Jacksonville in 2017 and Houston in 2019, and the team has lost every single one.

In fact, the Bills have lost every road playoff game they’ve had since the 1995 season, a total of 8 games over the last 30 years. The last time the Bills won a playoff game on the road was during the 1992/93 season when they traveled to Miami to dismantle the Dolphins 29-10 on Sunday, January 17, 1993. That victory, which was the AFC Championship Game, sent the Bills to Super Bowl XXVII when they subsequently lost to the Dallas Cowboys.

The Bills do have the tools necessary to grab a victory, including one of the most potent run games in the league, and all of Buffalo will be cheering for them to grab a W in Florida.

Let’s Go, Buffalo!
