The College Football Playoff semifinal will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Glendale, Arizona, inside State Farm Stadium, the home of the Arizona Cardinals. The Rebels come in, of course, red hot. Only one loss this year. And they got revenge on their only loss to the University of Georgia last week in the Sugar Bowl, winning in dramatic fashion. But of course, Pete Golding and Ole Miss fans don’t want the Fiesta Bowl to be as dramatic — hopefully they can win soundly. But it’s going to be their toughest challenge to date. They’ll be taking on the Miami team that comes in with the most sacks against quarterbacks in the entire country this year. The Ole Miss offensive line gave up just 13 sacks, leading the SEC. That’s going to be a key matchup in the battle of the trenches. But Ole Miss is going to need their biggest players to play their biggest games. Trinidad Chambliss has taken the college football world by storm, not only with the story, but also with his play this season and in the postseason, leading the rebels into this national semifinal. And of course, we want to see that Pete Golding defense show up. They haven’t had a big game yet, but if they can hold back Miami and get some takeaways, the Rebels have a great chance of booking their ticket to Miami for the national championship game. We’ll see how it all goes down. We’ll see if Ole Miss fans will show up in large numbers all the way out here to Glendale to cheer on their Rebels and the football team. They’re going to need the fans and that extra bit of energy to push them over the finish line to get this win over Miami.WAPT will have you covered in our newscast and throughout today as we’ll get you ready for kickoff.
