Per a report from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Detroit Lions will interview Seattle Seahawks offensive passing game coordinator Jake Peetz for its offensive coordinator vacancy. Peetz, 42, has spent the past two seasons with the Seahawks as its offensive passing game coordinator.
The Seahawks earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye in this year’s playoffs after finishing with a 14-3 regular-season record and capturing the NFC West title with a Week 18 win at San Francisco.
Working alongside Seattle offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, Peetz and the Seahawks boast the NFL’s No. 8 total offense (351. yards per game), its No. 8 passing offense (228.1 passing yards per game) and its No. 3 scoring offense (28.4 points per game).
Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is fifth in the league in passing with 4,048 passing yards. Darnold has thrown for 25 touchdowns. Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has reeled in 119 catches for 1,793 yards and 10 scores.
In 2024, Peetz oversaw a Seattle passing game that featured Geno Smith passing for 4,320 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Prior to his time in Seattle, Peetz worked for Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay, where he served as an offensive assistant with the Rams in 2022 before serving as the Rams’ pass game specialist in 2023.
In 2023, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 3,965 yards and 24 touchdowns. Then-Rams rookie receiver Puka Nacua set NFL rookie records for receptions (105) and receiving yards (1,486).
A Nebraska alum, Peetz also served as LSU‘s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2021. Peetz began his coaching career at Santa Barbara City College in 2006 before joining UCLA as a defensive assistant in 2007.
Peetz worked in the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ scouting department from 2008-11 before transitioning into a coaching role as the Jaguars‘ assistant quarterbacks coach.
Other NFL stops include Washington (offensive quality control coach) in 2014, Oakland (assistant quarterbacks coach / quarterbacks coach) in 2015-17 and Carolina (running backs coach / quarterbacks coach) in 2019-20. Peetz also worked for Nick Saban at Alabama in 2013 and in 2018 as an offensive analyst.
