Aaron Rodgers is rarely immune to making headlines.
During a press availability, ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ AFC Wild Card game against the Houston Texans, the quarterback couldn’t resist taking a veiled shot at his former team, the New York Jets.
“One thing I really love (about Pittsburgh), and it’s kind of the antithesis of where I was, is there’s not really any leaks in the boat,” Rogers said in a clip shared on X/Twitter. “Every year, you have difficulties and adversity both on the field and off the field, and to go through a season like this, and to be able to focus on football, and not have a lot of other bulls— out there, has been really nice.”
Rodgers tenure with the Jets began with a lot hype but took a disastrous turn just four snaps into his 2023 debut when he suffered a torn Achilles.
While he returned in 2024 to start 17 games and post statistically solid numbers — throwing for nearly 3,900 yards and 28 touchdowns — the team failed to find its footing, finishing with a disappointing 5-12 record.
By February 2025, the “experiment” officially ended when the Jets’ new leadership, including head coach Aaron Glenn and GM Darren Mougey, informed Rodgers they were moving in a different direction, leading to his eventual departure for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Rodgers’ time in New York was defined by distractions, fueled by his weekly appearances on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
These segments became a lightning rod for controversy as Rodgers used the platform to air personal grievances, float conspiracy theories, and engage in high-profile feuds — most notably with late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.
In Pittsburgh, Rodgers helped the Steelers finished the regular season with a 10-7 record and secured their first AFC North title since 2020.
He finished the year with 3,322 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions, a performance that reaffirmed his reputation as one of the most efficient passers ever.
