The Cincinnati Bengals quietly have a breakout star on their hands at cornerback.

Turns out the All-Pro voting process paid attention, too.

Bengals corner DJ Turner was one of the only players on the team to get any votes at all during the process after the season.

Ja’Marr Chase getting his second straight first-team All-Pro nod (something accomplished by past franchise greats like Anthony Munoz and Chad Johnson, to name a few) is great, of course.

But the quick acknowledgement of Turner’s season might be even more important.

Case in point, a quick comment from NFL analyst Mike Clay:

Turner will need to prove the big jump this year wasn’t a fluke, but it’s hard to scoff at him shadowing an opponent’s best each week and ending up as the 20th-ranked corner out of 114 at PFF.

And here’s Turner on whether he wants to get with the Bengals about an extension this offseason: “Oh, yeah, for sure. My agent and I are about to get talking a little bit, but for sure, that’s definitely a conversation I would love having.”

Turner morphed into a core building block this offseason and has started to gain national attention for it, so don’t be shocked if he pops up in extension talks this offseason.
