The Baltimore Ravens have fired head coach John Harbaugh after 18 seasons with the team.Harbaugh’s departure ends a tenure that included 193 total wins and 12 playoff appearances.Baltimore has requested interviews with nine candidates, focusing on offensive minds to elevate quarterback Lamar Jackson.Among the candidates are Klint Kubiak, Davis Webb, Matt Nagy, Kliff Kingsbury, and Joe Brady.

The Ravens are searching for a new head coach for the first time in 18 years, and many pundits around the league believe the focus should be on elevating Lamar Jackson.

John Harbaugh was fired after nearly two decades, with 193 total wins, tying Chuck Knox for the 12th-most by an HC in NFL history. An under-the-radar hire when he departed the Eagles, Harbaugh led Baltimore to 12 playoff berths in the past 18 seasons and to six postseason appearances in the last eight years.

There’s been no discussion about who’ll lead the search, but Eric DeCosta is the Executive VP and GM, and he’ll have the ear of owner Steve Bisciotti, who purchased the team in 2004 and has as much a hand as any other owner, with the acting head coach reporting directly to him. Team President Sashi Brown is entering his fifth year in the position.

Ravens‘ brass will address the media on Tuesday, January 13, when a clearer picture and broader sense of the plan going forward should emerge. Current offensive coordinator Todd Monken gave the first hint of a complete overhaul when he was a guest on the Ryan Ripken Show and took accountability for what went wrong on his end. Monken called his time in Baltimore a “great 3-year run, saying I’d do it again tomorrow.” He then went on to admit he “didn’t coach quarterback Lamar Jackson well enough, saying, “I didn’t have as good a relationship as I could’ve.”

One Hall of Fame wide receiver is calling on the Ravens to find an offense-minded head coach. During the Saturday morning version of NFL Sunday Countdown on ESPN, Randy Moss called for a head coach who can elevate Jackson in “the postseason.”

So far, Baltimore has requested to interview nine candidates, four defensive coordinators, and, unsurprisingly, five of the brightest and most well-respected offensive play callers available during this cycle. With Lamar Jackson a clear priority and a player the Ravens will allow insight into this process, GM Eric DeCosta and owner Steve Bisciotti will certainly look for a coach who can lead a team, while most importantly, taking Jackson to another tier of production and beyond his two MVP awards.

With the process rolling along, here’s a look at five offensive-minded coordinators who’ve landed or are scheduled for interviews.

Tom Pelissero reports that the Ravens requested an interview with Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak for their head coaching job. With Kubiak running the Sam Darnold-led offense and overseeing the superstar breakout of Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Seattle is fifth in yards per play (6.0). The son of a famed and successful offensive coordinator, he’d put Lamar Jackson in a position to succeed, and the principles of the West Coast offense could take Jackson to the next level as a passer. Kubiak is another coach who employs heavy doses of pre-snap motion and shift, wide-zone blocking, 12-personnel, and a mix of shotgun snaps and plays under center.

The youngest of the bunch, Davis Webb, landed a Zoom interview for the head coaching job. At 30 years old, Webb would tie Sean McVay as the youngest head coach hired in the NFL’s modern era. Webb is so rare in his knowledge; he’s in the same hiring cycle with his former college head coach (Kingsbury). The former Texas Tech star spent six seasons as an NFL backup before Sean Payton hired him as an assistant in 2023. He has worked with Russell Wilson and Bo Nix in his three seasons in Denver.

Nix said this about Webb:

“He’s always prepared me extremely well, especially from the get-go,” Nix said via the Ravens official website. “He played the position and knows what it’s like to walk into a game. He prepares me on a very good level and we’re always ready for the task at hand.”

The least innovative of the group, Nagy has worked as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator and in various other roles since 2022, following a four-year stint as the Bears’ head coach (34-31 record).

He won two Super Bowls there while serving in several staff positions.

Kingsbury, the former Cardinals coach, helped Daniels win Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in his rookie season while the Commanders advanced to the NFC Championship game. In 2024, Daniels threw for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns to nine interceptions, while adding 891 rushing yards and six scores. Washington ranked fifth in points per game and seventh in yards per game. In 2025, things went drastically differently, as Daniels struggled to stay healthy and did not play nearly as well. Daniels missed time with a left knee sprain, a right hamstring strain, and a left elbow dislocation. Washington (5-12) was 22nd in both points per game and yards per contest, as Daniels’ offensive totals dropped to 1,262 passing yards and eight passing touchdowns to three interceptions, while only adding 278 rushing yards and two scores. Kingsbury coached Davis Webb at Texas Tech.

A dark horse who could unleash Lamar Jackson, Brady is used to coaching high-profile quarterbacks, such as Joe Burrow and Josh Allen. This year, Buffalo’s offense is third in offensive EPA (94.6), fifth in scoring (27.3 points per game), and fourth in yards per play (6.1). In his three seasons as the Bills’ full-time offensive coordinator, the unit has never ranked outside the top 10 in total offense (including No. 4 in both 2023 and 2025) and has been No. 6 or better in scoring.
