Saturday the LA Rams won a shootout in a hostile environment in Carolina to advance in the playoffs. Sunday, the Raiders requested to speak with two of the offensive assistants for their vacant head coach position, hoping to tap into a bit of what makes the Rams offense so potent.

The Raiders requested to speak with passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase along with offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur.

The two of them are credited with helping Matt Stafford have an MVP level season for the Rams this past season. At the age oef 37, Stafford had a monster season, passing for 4707 yards with 46 touchdowns to just eight interceptions. He threw three more touchdowns in the win over the Panthers on Saturday to advance to the Divisional round of the playoffs.

Mike LaFleur is the brother of Packers head coach Matt LaFleur whose Packers lost their game to the Bears in an equally exciting wildcard matchup. Mike is building his resume as an OC in the league. He has been the Rams OC the past three seasons. He had previously been the OC for the Jets after four years as passing game coordinator in San Francisco. He is still just 38 years of age.

Scheelhaase has moved up quickly in his young career. The 35-year-old is in just his first season as the passing game coordinator for the Rams and just his second season as an NFL assistant. He was hired by the Rams after just one season as the OC and QB coach at Iowa State.
