Lucas Scott is a state champion football player from Chenango Forks High School. He is now preparing to share the same backfield as NFL megastars Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry.
“I probably thought I would be a little more of a fanboy than I am,” said Scott. “It kind of just feels like football again to me but it is pretty cool.”
Scott recently signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent after a strong performance at the team’s rookie minicamp.
Scott signed with the Ravens after playing offensive line at Army. However, he is listed as a fullback for Baltimore, the same position he played in high school.Â
“I think it makes me have more knowledge when it comes to understanding an offense,” said Scott when discussing the changes in position.Â
Playing in the NFL is a dream come true for the former Chenango Forks Blue Devil. Scott says his time at Forks, where he won a state championship in 2019 and was named Class B state Player of the Year, helped him prepare for playing at the highest level of football.
“It just gave me an amazing foundation of just winning and what a good culture and brotherhood looks like,” said Scott. “Always had amazing teams, amazing leaders, amazing men, great coaches. So I think just, you know, really growing my love for football and just having a base understanding of what good football and what a good team looks like.”
Scott’s goal is to make the Ravens’ 53-man roster later this year and help the AFC powerhouse compete for a Super Bowl title.Â
“Just no regrets,” said Scott. “Maximizing every opportunity I get here because I understand how lucky and grateful I am to get this opportunity and I don’t wanna waste it.”
