TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – The NFL Playoffs are underway and for the first time since 2014, the Kansas City Chiefs aren’t competing.
Jeremiah Bullfrogs, a popular Topeka sports bar, still had a large crowd on Sunday afternoon.
“It’s definitely weird for sure,” said server Bryanna Estanol. “You know, we’re usually at this time, gearing up for the Super Bowl and all that.”
“It’s unfortunate, it’s unfortunate but next year […] It’s alright, we got it,” customer Cartar Parrish said about the Chiefs.
Some fans felt that the experience was less stressful without the Chiefs being in.
“No one’s like acting too crazy because the Chiefs aren’t involved, so it’s like everyone’s just divided,” said customer Eduardo Roman. “It’s not just like all Chiefs’ side, you know what I mean, it’s all neutral you know what I mean.”
Estanol says the sports bar serves more than just Chiefs fans.
“The Broncos, Raiders, Packers,” she said. “There’s so many different fans that come in here. So we still have a good amount of people, lots of business still, lots of money to be made.”
Estanol also says that even without the Chiefs in the playoffs, the community supports Bullfrogs no matter what.
“They are, you know, very loyal customers that have been coming in for lots of years since the beginning,” she said. “We really haven’t had any concerns with that.”
Jeremiah Bullfrogs is located at 2827 SW Wanamaker Rd.
