The Arizona Cardinals have had a new name emerge as a candidate for the vacant head coaching position. This coach has ties to the NFC West. According to ESPN’s Peter Schrager, the Cardinals will interview Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur.
Per Schrager, LaFleur will have interviews with both the Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders.

LaFleur has been coaching in the NFL since 2014. He began with the Cleveland Browns in 2014 as an offensive intern. He was an offensive assistant in 2015-2016 with the Atlanta Falcons when Kyler Shanahan, now the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, was the offensive coordinator. He followed Shanahan to the 49ers in 2017 to be passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach. He stayed there through 2020, and then went to the New York Jets in 2021 to be their offensive coordinator when Robert Saleh, who was the defensive coordinator for the Niners, was hired as head coach of the Jets. Since 2023, he has been the offensive coordinator for the Rams.
He is the younger brother of Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.
The Rams won their first-round playoff game, so LaFleur cannot be hired this week, but he can interview on Tuesday.
Who are the other candidates to replace Jonathan Gannon?
There are now 10 known candidates the Cardinals have interviewed or requested to interview.
