Once an NFL team’s season ends, it is allowed to sign players who did not finish the season on a 53-man roster to reserve/future contracts. Those players then officially join the 90-man offseason roster when the new league year begins in March.
Teams often — but not always — use most of their reserve/future deals for players on their own practice squad. The Denver Broncos will sign players to reserve/future contracts once their season concludes, but every team that’s not in the playoffs can get a head start.
Several former Broncos players landed reserve/future deals with NFL clubs following the conclusion of the 2025 regular season, including running back Blake Watson, who secured a deal with the Tennessee Titans. Watson originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Memphis with the Broncos in 2024. He landed on Tennessee’s practice squad in September after being cut by Denver with an injury settlement.
Elsewhere on the ex-Bronco front, tight end Caden Prieskorn signed with the Cleveland Browns, defensive lineman Durell Nchami signed with the Indianapolis Colts, tight end Albert Okwuegbunam signed with the Las Vegas Raiders and wide receiver Joaquin Davis signed with the Minnesota Vikings. The Green Bay Packers also signed offensive lineman Karsen Barnhart to their active roster ahead of their wild-card playoff game.
