Just a few hours ago, the Green Bay Packers were set to discuss the deal to decide whether head coach Matt LaFleur will continue or not. And the recent report by a senior NFL insider suggests that John Harbaugh’s name is involved in the complexity of finalizing a deal.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on X, on Monday, “Packers now are expected to try to work out a deal in the coming days to keep head coach Matt LaFleur in Green Bay, per sources.” He has also said that the Packers are extremely interested in signing an extension with LaFleur.

However, the NFL rumors hardly lie. The rumors signify that they may move on from LaFleur, which clears the way for the Baltimore Ravens’ former HC Harbaugh. Adam Schefter reported this angle first on The Pat McAfee Show.
“If you want John Harbaugh in New York, I think the first thing you want is the Green Bay Packers and Matt LaFleur to work out a deal,” Schefter said. “That’s the first thing you want to have happen. Because if they don’t work out a deal that opens up the possibility of Green Bay as a potential favorite there now.”

ESPN’s senior reporter also added. “Again, John Harbaugh gets to sit back and call the shots here to a certain extent, and he has interest from these teams. He could go, I’m sure, to New York if he wanted Atlanta to you there, if he wanted Tennessee, if he wanted Cleveland, if he wanted we’re waiting to see obviously, what else transpires, namely Green Bay.”
Notably, Harbaugh’s agent is Bryan Harlan, and his father, Bob Harlan, was the president of the Green Bay Packers for 19 years. This is a significant connection between the Harlan family and the Packers, which will serve as a bridge between Harbaugh and the franchise for future deals.
Meanwhile, per Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the New York Giants and the Tennessee Titans are the ones who have more chances of getting Harbaugh in the head coach’s seat.
