NFL quarterback debates often justifiably pit Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals against Los Angeles Chargers star Justin Herbert.

After Sunday’s wild-card round, NFL fans want it to stop.

While Burrow and the Bengals were in offseason mode, Herbert and the Chargers were getting walloped in Foxboro by the New England Patriots.

There, Herbert mustered less than 200 passing yards in a three-point showing that secured an 0-3 start to his career in the playoffs. His offensive line is bad and Greg Roman is a known problematic coordinator, but fans expect to see top-10 quarterbacks make plays.

Herbert didn’t.

It’s not a totally fair comparison, given their surroundings. The Bengals briefly became somewhat modern and made good moves before the consecutive AFC title game pushes and Super Bowl appearance.

Fair or not, though, that’s just how this goes. And fans don’t ever want to see Burrow and Herbert compared again:
