The Eagles cleaned out their lockers on Monday, hours after the heartbreaking 23-19 loss to the 49ers, which ended after the Birds were unable to score with less than two minutes remaining. The Eagles will have the 23rd overall pick in the draft, but most eyes and ears will be on what will happen to offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.
Philadelphia’s offense essentially played with fire throughout this entire season, and Sunday night was no different. Nick Sirianni’s team had a strong offensive start but sputtered down the stretch, allowing a banged-up 49ers team decimated by injuries to hold a 23-19 lead with less than 3:00 minutes remaining in regulation.
After a first quarter that saw Philadelphia amass over 100 total yards, the Eagles only managed 119 yards and 6 points in the second half, ending what should be a one-and-done experiment with Kevin Patullo as the team’s offensive coordinator. Overall, the Eagles’ offense had 19 first downs, but were 5-16 on third downs, 3-5 on fourth downs, for 307 total yards, 167 yards passing, 140 yards rushing, and 2-3 in the red zone while holding the football for 11 more minutes (35:39-24:21).
Here’s what Eagles’ players said one last time before the off-season officially begins.
Jalen Hurts on Kevin Patullo
Hurts sounded like a player ready for change.

The All-Pro cornerback struggles to amass interceptions during the regular season, but he drops nothing during the postseason, where all four of his career takeaways have happened.
Cooper DeJean wants to stay in the slot
We’d prefer to get DeJean more snaps at safety, but it sounds like the All-Pro wants to stay in the slot. DeJean is a ball magnet, and Fangio should look to employ DeJean in a similar manner to that of Kyle Hamilton’s Swiss army role in Baltimore.
Eagles offense never changed — DeVonta Smith
Philadelphia has changed offensive coordinators multiple times, but it appears that Shane Steichen and Kellen Moore are even more talented than we thought. While cleaning out the lockers, DeVonta Smith hinted that the playbook and philosophy would remain the same regardless of who called the plays.
Jalen Hurts on A.J. Brown
The Eagles quarterback is the godfather to Brown’s daughter, but that hasn’t stopped some from insinuating that Hurts and the wide receiver don’t get along. Hurts addressed his feelings about Brown while cleaning out his locker.
A.J. Brown left some gifts
The Eagles’ wide receiver didn’t address the media after the loss, and he likely won’t on Monday during the locker room cleanout process. Brown did leave a gift for All-Pro Quinyon Mitchell.
Darius Cooper has a future
The undrafted rookie out of Tarleton State saw key snaps for the defending Super Bowl champions this season. While cleaning out his locker, free agent pass catcher Jahan Dotson praised Cooper and his future on the roster.
