Ole Miss football quarterback Trinidad Chambliss’ college career could be over now that the NCAA has denied his waiver for an additional year of eligibility.

According to athletic director Keith Carter, Ole Miss plans to appeal the decision.

Chambliss and his attorney Tom Mars intend to file a suit in Mississippi state court, seeking an injunction that would allow Chambliss to play in 2026.

If neither option produces an extra year of eligibility for Chambliss, the success of his 2025 season with the Rebels has opened up a path to the NFL for the former Division II star.

Starting 13 games and helping Ole Miss to a 13-2 record and College Football Playoff semifinal appearance, Chambliss threw for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns with three interceptions at a 66% completion rate. He also rushed for 527 yards and eight touchdowns on 133 carries.

Chambliss was named SEC Newcomer of the Year and was selected to the All-SEC second team. He also finished eighth in Heisman Trophy voting.
