Defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero isn’t the only Carolina Panthers staffer who’s drawing some outside interest this offseason.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Washington Commanders have requested permission to interview Panthers assistant quarterbacks coach Mike Bercovici. The Commanders, per Schultz, are looking to speak with Bercovici regarding their quarterbacks coach position under newly and first-time offensive coordinator David Blough.
Carolina hired Bercovici in 2023, as an offensive assistant for former head coach Frank Reich’s staff. The former pro quarterback would be promoted to his assistant quarterbacks coach/pass game specialist role for 2025—helping Panthers starter Bryce Young record career-highs in completion percentage (63.6), passing yards (3,011), passing touchdowns (23) and passer rating (87.8).
Bercovici, a University of Arizona State alum, also served as an assistant for the Sun Devils from 2019 to 2021—where he crossed paths with Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.
