The Carolina Panthers‘ season ended a bit later than usual this year. Refreshing, right?

Instead of packing it up after their regular-season finale, as they had in the previous seven campaigns, the Panthers finally cracked into the playoffs. While their long-awaited appearance may have been a one-and-done off a wild-card round thriller against the Los Angeles Rams, the franchise experienced some promising progress in 2025.

But now, we’ve entered their offseason—and it’s time to kick it off with very first 2026 mock draft.

Let’s dive in . . .

Expert NFL picks: Exclusive betting insights only at USA TODAY.First round (19th overall): Cashius Howell, EDGE, Texas A&M

There may be some size thresholds the 6-foot-2, 248-pound Howell may not meet for the Panthers. But they may be willing to overlook those to add an exciting player in a lackluster department.

Howell could be the best pure pass rusher of any edge defender in this class. He possesses a diverse set of moves, dynamic bend and great athleticism.

Second round (51st overall): Josiah Trotter, LB, Missouri

Trotter is one of the most underrated linebackers in the country. He showcased terrific football IQ and downhill explosiveness to pair with an ever-growing coverage prowess.

Carolina must address the inside linebacker spot, which has plagued their defense for the past few seasons.

Third round (83rd overall): Eli Stowers, TE, Vanderbilt

Despite their recent picks at tight end in Mitchell Evans and Ja’Tavion Sanders, the Panthers still need some playmaking ability out of the position.

Stowers was arguably the top pass-catcher in Vanderbilt’s offense this past season, reeling in 62 catches for 769 yards and four touchdowns. The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder is a quality route runner with good ball skills.

Fourth round (119th overall): Zachariah Branch, WR, Georgia

The Panthers need a dynamic pass catcher in space, and Branch provides outstanding short-area quickness and athleticism for it.

Fifth round (156th overall, via MIN): J’Mari Taylor, RB, Virginia

Always take a chance on a running back in Day 3 of the draft. Taylor provides creativity and burst that is lacking in Carolina’s backfield.

Fifth round (157th overall): Pat Coogan, C, Indiana

Cade Mays is a free agent, and the Panthers must consider their potential options if he’s on the outs. Coogan has been a standout player for the Hoosiers during their national title run, especially in the run game.

Sixth round (199th overall): Fa’alili Fa’amoe, OT, Wake Forest

Between the torn patellar tendon to left tackle Ikem Ekwonu and the mileage on right tackle Taylor Moton, the Panthers should look to invest in a bookend or two.

Seventh round (235th overall): Taylen Green, QB, Arkansas

A developmental quarterback would be a sound addition to the roster.
