With the offseason here for the Indianapolis Colts, let’s take a look at everything you need to know heading into the upcoming months.

Despite another missed postseason — their fifth in a row — the Colts are sticking with Chris Ballard as their general manager.

As principal owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon described, everyone was very encouraged by the Colts’ start to the season in 2025, and there is a belief that this success can be replicated in 2026.

But in order to do that, there will have to be changes made, and players added to the roster. Regardless of how the first 10 games went, ending the season on a seven-game losing streak tells us that things aren’t good enough.

Last offseason, we saw Ballard take a more aggressive approach in free agency. From the sounds of it, he could do the same again this offseason.

So with roster reshaping on the horizon, here is everything to know about the Colts’ upcoming offseason.

How much salary cap space do the Colts have?

According to Over the Cap, the Colts have $45.77 million in available cap space. Compared to the rest of the NFL, this is the ninth-most in football currently.

So the opportunity for the Colts to do some spending this offseason does exist.

If needed, Ballard will have the ability to create more salary cap room through contract restructures, extensions, and veteran cuts.

Indianapolis Colts 2026 NFL draft picks

After trading for Sauce Gardner, the Colts do not have a first-round draft pick in 2026. So their first selection will come with the 47th overall pick, according to Tankathon.

In total, the Colts currently have five draft picks in 2026. Along with trading away their first-rounder, GM Chris Ballard also traded the Colts’ sixth-round draft pick as part of the trade that brought Mekhi Blackmon over from Minnesota.

The Colts are projected to receive two compensatory picks in the sixth and seventh rounds. This would bring the Colts’ total number of selections up to seven.

Positions of need for the Colts

In his season-ending press conference, Ballard mentioned three specific areas where the Colts have to improve this offseason.

The Colts need “more fuel” on the defensive line.

The defense has to get faster and younger.

The Colts have to “be able to run it, when we want to run it”
