Carolina Panthers general manager Dan Morgan said the team will exercise the fifth-year option on quarterback Bryce Young.

Morgan said at an end-of-season press conference on Tuesday that Young will remain under contract with the team through the 2027 season.

“I think Bryce has shown flashes of greatness this year against high-level competition,” Morgan said of Young, who the Panthers traded up for to take at No. 1 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Young is 24 and will be heading into the final year of his rookie deal. He’s coming off a career-best season through several categories, including yards passing (3,011) and touchdowns (23). His 2025 play benefited from the emergence of young receivers Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker.

Young threw for 264 yards and one passing touchdown in Saturday’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. He also ran for a touchdown.

The Panthers won the NFC South title and had their first playoff appearance since 2017.

The NFL playoffs continue on WRAL and FOX50 this weekend. San Francisco takes on Seattle at 8 p.m. on Saturday on FOX50, while the Rams visit Chicago at 6:30 p.m. Sunday on WRAL.
