SMU is continuing its defensive reload through the transfer portal.

According to On3’s Billy Embody, the Mustangs secured a transfer commitment from former Clemson linebacker Jamal Anderson on Tuesday. Anderson spent the last three seasons at Clemson, posting 16 total tackles, three tackles for loss and one sack.

Anderson appeared in only four games at Clemson in 2025 before opting for a mid-career redshirt. The linebacker has two years of eligibility remaining, Embody reported.

Anderson (6-3, 225 pounds) was a four-star recruit as a high schooler. He held offers from various top programs, including Florida, Indiana, Miami and Texas.
