The AFC North will officially have three new coaches for the 2026 season.

Following the Pittsburgh Steelers’ season-ending blowout loss to the Houston Texans, head coach Mike Tomlin has decided to step down as head coach. Thus ends a 19-year run as the Steelers’ head coach, though it ends on a sour note with seven straight playoff losses, tying Marvin Lewis for the all-time postseason record.

Easy to see why Pittsburgh and Tomlin decided it was time for a change for both sides. Tomlin now joins a coaching cycle that includes former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski and former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.

With this news, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor will now be the dean of AFC North head coaches, and he’ll likely keep that title for the foreseeable future if he can keep his job after three straight non-playoff seasons.
