The New York Giants have released former Wisconsin cornerback R.J. Delancy III.

Delancy originally signed with the organization as a free agent after the 2025 NFL draft. His release coincided with the team signing cornerback T.J. Moore, who was a rookie minicamp tryout, and veteran wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey.

Delancy will now search for a new NFL home for his first professional season. The cornerback played just one year at Wisconsin. He appeared in 11 of 12 games during that campaign, totaling seven tackles. He primarily played a depth role in the team’s cornerback room, behind starters Ricardo Hallman and Nyzier Fourqurean.

After redshirting as a true freshman at Nebraska (2020), the Miami, Florida, native played three seasons at Toledo (2021-23). The time with the Rockets included 38 appearances, 62 total tackles, one for loss, two interceptions and 14 pass deflections. He was a standout contributor in 2023, notching 28 tackles, one interception and 10 pass deflections. While his teammate Quinyon Mitchell went on to be a first-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles, Delancy used that breakout campaign to move up to the Big Ten level.

Delancy was one of four former Badgers signed as undrafted free agents in April. Offensive lineman Joe Huber (Minnesota Vikings), wide receiver Bryson Green (Arizona Cardinals) and Logan Brown (Vikings, via Kansas) were the other three, while linebacker Jaheim Thomas, edge rusher John Pius and defensive lineman Elijah Hills all received minicamp invites.

All seven players have uphill battles for a spot on their respective teams’ 53-man rosters. Delancy’s best chance may be a practice squad spot, if he’s able to sign a training camp contract with another organization.
