As new Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan is immersed in a coaching search, the team made its first roster move under his management.

The Dolphins announced on Tuesday afternoon they signed safety Omar Brown to a futures contract.

Brown’s two career games played came in 2024 with the Green Bay Packers, where Sullivan came from as vice president of player personnel before accepting Miami’s GM job last week.

Brown missed the 2025 season after suffering a chest contusion and lung injury in a preseason game with Green Bay last August.

Brown entered the NFL undrafted with the Denver Broncos in 2024. He spent the past two years of his college career at Nebraska (2022-23), where he transferred to from Northern Iowa (2019-21).

At Nebraska, he appeared in 23 games with eight starts and recorded 56 tackles, three for loss, one interception, four passes defensed, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He started 29 games at Northern Iowa and recorded 140 tackles, eight interceptions, 21 passes defensed, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.

Futures contracts allow a team to immediately bring in players following the end to their season and before the start of the new league year, securing their rights for next season without affecting the current year’s salary cap.

The Dolphins had signed 10 previous players to futures contracts last week, in batches of six and then four.

The first six were all members of the 2025 practice squad: wide receiver AJ Henning, defensive tackle Alex Huntley, outside linebacker Derrick McLendon, linebacker K.C. Ossai and offensive linemen Josh Priebe and Kion Smith.

The next four were defensive tackle Keith Cooper Jr., tight end Cole Turner and offensive linemen Braeden Daniels and Carter Warren.
