The San Francisco 49ers were losing 19-17 to the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth quarter of their wild-card matchup before quarterback Brock Purdy found running back Christian McCaffrey for a 4-yard score.
After the game, Eagles fans complained about left tackle Trent Williams’ performance on the game-winning touchdown, saying that he held Eagles linebacker Nolan Smith, which allowed Purdy to step up and deliver the strike.
Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Williams had a hilarious response to the gripes.
“I didn’t see a flag,” Williams said. “You can’t get a speeding ticket if you don’t get pulled over.”
The 37-year-old, who made his 12th Pro Bowl this year, returned to the lineup against Philadelphia after missing the regular-season finale with a hamstring injury. A player with the accolades that he has will sometimes get the benefit of the doubt from referees.

49ers fans were also quick to point out a missed call that should’ve been a roughing-the-passer or facemask penalty against Nakobe Dean during the game.
Officiating is a difficult job, especially when doing it at live game speed.
