Last week, we reported that the Tennessee Titans were interested in interviewing former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, and yesterday, he was listed on their interview schedule for today. Now, we can confirm that McDaniel is in the building, and the Titans plan to hold a virtual interview with Arthur Smith, offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

McDaniel first entered the NFL in 2005 as a coaching intern with the Broncos. In 2006, he joined the Texans as an offensive assistant, working with Kyle Shanahan. McDaniel spent time with the then-Redskins, Browns, Falcons and 49ers until he was hired as the Dolphins’ head coach in 2022. His record with Miami was 35-35, including the postseason. His experience with Tua Tagovailoa will be instrumental in helping develop Cam Ward.

Smith is also an offensive-minded coach. He joined the NFL in 2011 when he was hired by the Titans as a defensive quality control coach. The following year, he moved to the offensive side of the ball and worked his way up the ranks to the role of offensive coordinator in 2019. He was part of Mike Vrabel’s staff that went to the postseason multiple times before leaving to become the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. He was hired by the Steelers as offensive coordinator in 2024, which is where he remains now.

The Titans haven’t wasted any time conducting their extensive search this offseason, and it doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.
