Comedian Dan Soder didn’t sugarcoat his reaction to the Dolphins firing his good friend, head coach Mike McDaniel, after Miami finished 7-10 this season.
During Tuesday’s installment of the “Soder” podcast, the comedian ripped Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, calling him an “old f–k” — and claimed ESPN analyst Troy Aikman, who was brought in as an unpaid advisor for Miami’s GM search, was behind McDaniel’s firing.
“In fact, I think he’s better off, because I think … it’s a s–t organization,” Soder said, adding that McDaniel “has been my buddy” since the seventh grade.

“I think it’s ran by an old f–k that stabbed Mike in the back after he told him he was going to be alright for another season. And f–k the Dolphins.”
McDaniel was fired roughly 16 months after he signed a three-year extension in August 2024.
In four years at the helm, he went 35-34 without winning a playoff game.

Soder, who is also the fiancé of SiriusXM host and former ESPNer Katie Nolan, called out Aikman for “sh–ting on” McDaniel while calling games on “Monday Night Football.”
“I think Troy Aikman f–king got Mike fired … When you watch football as a fan, you notice when broadcasters are slanted for or against you,” Soder said.
“Having a friend that’s an NFL coach, you listen more when people talk about your friend. And Troy Aikman s–ts on McDaniel in a way that it’s like, ‘He doesn’t like Mike.’”
Aikman was particularly critical of the Dolphins’ end-of-game strategy during a “MNF” loss to the Steelers on Dec. 15, calling their lack of urgency “bizarre” while trailing by multiple scores in the 28-15 loss.
“This is just a bizarre last few series,” Aikman said. “They don’t go hurry-up. Now, they’re going hurry-up and calling timeouts. It’s just, it’s hard to understand exactly what the philosophy or what they’re trying to do.”

Soder also praised McDaniel for being loyal to Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who’s hoping to find a new team next season after being benched for the team’s final three games.
“I think McDaniel got fired because he tied himself to Tua and they lost … but I think that’s a sign of my friend being loyal,” Soder said.
“So as a friend, I go, f–k yeah he stuck with him. And I hope the next team he goes to, the quarterback goes, ‘Well this guy stuck with him, so I believe in him.’”

McDaniel, 42, interviewed for the Browns’ head coach job Monday, according to Cleveland.com.
He was the Browns’ receivers coach in 2014 under then-offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan and head coach Mike Pettine.
The Titans are also expected to interview McDaniel on Wednesday, and he’s set to interview for the Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator position.
