Poor New York Jets fans. They continue to suffer as the franchise flounders, and on Wednesday, they learned that QB Dante Moore would be staying at Oregon instead of declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft.

Though there are other QB options for the Jets, the focus here is on what they do with that No. 2 overall pick in the draft. Our latest 2026 NFL mock from Christian D’Andrea had Moore to the Jets before the news broke, and in the latest Athletic mock, Dane Brugler had the Jets taking EDGE Arvell Reese, perhaps the top defender in this class who could be a game-changer for a defense that lost Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner in trades last season.

Here’s his take:

Though it’s disappointing for the Jets that Moore isn’t on the board, it gives them an opportunity to select whomever they see as the best non-quarterback in the class — and Reese is a prime candidate. He played a hybrid role for the Buckeyes last season, mostly spying and setting the edge, but he was disruptive when allowed to use his speed and violence as a pass rusher.
