Former Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken has interviewed for the same position with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.Monken previously served as the Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator from 2016 to 2018.He found significant success at the college level, leading Georgia to back-to-back national titles.
Former Georgia Bulldogs offensive coordinator Todd Monken is making the rounds in the NFL coaching carousel. Monken was interviewed to be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator. Monken could get another shot in the pros. Monken could make a return to Tampa Bay, much to the chagrin of Georgia fans that watch the Atlanta Falcons.
Well before his time with Georgia, Monken was the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach of the Buccaneers in 2016-18. He became just the OC in 2018. In 2016 and 2017, Tampa Bay was just 18th in points per game, despite finishing with the ninth most total yards in 2017. 2018 was the same story. Despite finishing third in total yards, Monken’s offense still ranked 12th in points per game.
Part of that was due to Jameis Winston’s penchant for turning the ball over, but the Buccaneers moved on from him after firing Dirk Koetter. He became the offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns in 2019, but once again, he was let go along with the Browns moving on from Freddie Kitchens.
That’s when he joined the Georgia Bulldogs. As offensive coordinator for Georgia from 2020-22, Monken led Bulldogs to ranking 38th among all college football teams in 2020 (32.3 PPG), 9th in 2021 (38.6) and 5th in 2022 (41.1). He turned Stetson Bennett into a Heisman finalist in 2022, and his work with the offense led Georgia to back-to-back national titles in 2021 and 2022.
When he was hired by the Ravens in 2023, his success translated to the NFL. The Baltimore Ravens had the fourth-most points per game in 2023 and third most points per game in 2024. Quarterback Lamar Jackson won MVP, and the Ravens contending window swung wide open again, making the AFC Championship game for the first time since 2012 in the 2023 season.

Unfortunately, the offense stalled in 2025. Lamar Jackson missed four games with several injuries and they ranked just 11th in points per game. The Ravens missed the playoffs in 2025, prompting general manager Eric DeCosta to fire John Harbaugh, with rumors that it was because Harbaugh wouldn’t fire Monken.
With the Buccaneers, he’d get to work with quarterback Baker Mayfield for the second time in his career. Mayfield and Tampa Bay also went 8-9, barely missing the playoffs after staring the year 5-1. With Mayfield usually being a reliable quarterback in Tampa Bay, he and the rest of the team cratered, so the Buccaneers fired offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard. Hiring Monken could turn the tide around for Tampa Bay.
Monken has also interviewed for the Cleveland Browns’ head coach job.
