Now that the Philadelphia Eagles’ season is over, the focus turns to Free Agency, and the upcoming NFL Draft. Executive Vice President and General Manager Howie Roseman told the media he understands the team cannot win the Super Bowl every year, but he will do everything he can to put the team in position to be contenders again.
Philadelphia has utilized the NFL Draft as well as any team in the NFL over the last five years. Since 2021, the Eagles have drafted 13 players who became starters, a big deal for a team that is trying to maintain their competetive edge for years to come.
One of the important events for NFL teams preparing for April’s Draft is the annual Senior Bowl. Since 1950, this showcase has featured numerous top NFL prospects who get to practice and play a game in front of NFL scouts and executives.
This Eagles Coach Will Be Working With Senior Bowl Prospects
The 2026 edition of the Panini Senior Bowl will be the fourth year that the National Football League will have the “Coach Up” program. This allows assistant coaches who have no had opportunities to be Head Coaches or interview for promotions to have the chance to get experience in “elevated roles”.
Members of the NFL’s General Managers Advisory Committee have selected Philadelphia Eagles Defensive Line Coach Clint Hurtt and Joel Thomas of the New Orleans Saints Associate Head Coach/Running Backs Coach Joel Thomas.
“This is an opportunity for two excellent coaches, Joel Thomas of the New Orleans Saints and Clint Hurtt of the Philadelphia Eagles, to take the reins as head coaches in leading their staffs and top football athletes in the Senior Bowl’s week-long evaluation of NFL prospects,” said Troy Vincent Sr., NFL executive vice president of football operations, in a press release “The Senior Bowl is not only a showcase for top football student-athletes, but also a wonderful opportunity for coaches that are nominated by their NFL clubs to further develop their skills and learn from one another.”
Hurtt has coached in the NFL for the last 12 years, and 11 years in College Football. The last two seasons, he has served as the Senior Defensive Assistant for Eagles’ Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio. The two men worked together with the Chicago Bears for two seasons, and Hurtt is a well-respected coach among players around the NFL.
In Philadelphia, Hurtt has coached up and helped elevate Defensive Linemen Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, Milton Williams, and Byron Young.
“We are thrilled to have Clint Hurtt as our head coach of the National Team in the 2026 Panini Senior Bowl,” said Drew Fabianich, the executive director of the Panini Senior Bowl, in a press release. “He is a highly regarded coach with a proven track record throughout his career. Clint will make a positive impact on his players and coaches during the week with his leadership and deep knowledge of the game. He will be a great mentor for the top prospects in the 2026 Draft.”
The Eagles are projected to have eight picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. Along with the 23rd overall pick, Philadelphia has a second round pick, two picks in each of the third, fourth, and fifth rounds.
