ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins will return to the broadcast booth for the divisional and championship rounds of the NFL playoffs.
CBS announced Cousins would join the booth as a replacement for Matt Ryan, who recently became the Falcons’ president of football.
There is precedent for members of NFL front offices to hold roles as broadcasters. Las Vegas Raiders part-owner Tom Brady is also a color commentator on Fox Sports.
Ryan, however, decided to step away from his analyst position to focus on the Falcons’ job full time.
In a sense, Cousins is replacing Ryan one more time.
Ryan left the Falcons in 2021 and the Falcons spent two years with Desmond Ridder under center before giving Cousins a four-year, $180 million contract with $100 million in guaranteed money in 2024.
The contract, however, has not panned out for the Falcons. Cousins led the league in interceptions and fumbles in 2024 before being injured for much of 2025.
This will not be Cousins’s first time in a broadcast booth. He joined the ESPN booth for the AFC championship last year.
