The New York Giants are widely expected to bring in former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh as their next head coach, though the process appears to have run into a bit of a roadblock.

Although Harbaugh and the Giants have been in discussions on a contract that would place him atop the organization, nothing has been finalized yet, and there seem to be a few sticking points slowing things down.

Earlier this week, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter shared on X that the Giants and Harbaugh remain “working through the details” of a potential deal, noting that there are still some “issues” to resolve.

According to Schefter, those “issues” are not related to financial terms, but instead center on the “language” within the contract.

“Giants and John Harbaugh still are working through the details of their contract, and it is not yet done, per sources,” Schefter said in a post on X.

“The final issues aren’t over money; it’s over language. ‘There’s no derailment and nothing has changed,’ one source said. Talks continue, and the two sides are working to get it across the finish line,” Schefter continued.

While the specifics of the disputed “language” remain unknown, it is evident that despite ongoing talks, the two sides have yet to finalize an agreement that would officially make Harbaugh the Giants’ next head coach.

Needless to say, this isn’t ideal that it’s taking so long for the deal to be finalized, and the news led to a lot of reactions on social media.

“Not another 4th qtr collapse….” one fan wrote in a post on X.

“We’ve seen John Harbaugh choke away countless double digit leads, now we’re gonna see him choke away an undeserving hundred million dollars,” someone else wrote.

“Giants yet again choking in the 4th quarter,” another person joked.

“Just get it done,” a fan pleaded.

“Would be a very John Harbaugh move to almost get the deal done and then choke it away at the last second,” someone else joked.

“This is falling through,” one fan speculated.

It will certainly be interesting to see how this plays out.
