The Miami Dolphins plan to interview Jeff Hafley in person Monday and he’s turning into a clear frontrunner to land the team’s head coaching job, according to reports.
“I’m told Hafley blew everyone away in his initial virtual interview with the Dolphins,” Tom Pelissero said on NFL Network on Saturday. “He worked with their new GM Jon-Eric Sullivan in Green Bay, has head coaching experience at Boston College. At this point, Hafley appears to be the leading candidate in Miami.”

Hafley, 46, has seemingly made good impressions elsewhere too. The Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator is also scheduled to hold a second interview for the Tennessee Titans‘ head coaching vacancy, although ESPN’s Adam Schefter suggested there’s a chance the Dolphins could finalize the hire Monday night and keep Hafley from any further discussions elsewhere.
In addition to his interviews with the Dolphins and Titans, Hafley also met with the Las Vegas Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals, and Cleveland Browns. According to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz, Hafley “is a likely finalist everywhere he’s interviewed.”
The Dolphins have already announced interviews with seven candidates: Hafley, Anthony Campanile, Klint Kubiak, Jesse Minter, Robert Saleh, Chris Shula, and Kevin Stefanski. The team has also requested interviews with Joe Brady, Patrick Graham, and Kelvin Sheppard. On Saturday, the Atlanta Falcons announced Stefanski as their new head coach.
Hafley spent the last two seasons as the Packers’ defensive coordinator after a four-year stint as Boston College’s head coach. Green Bay allowed only 278.7 yards per game through the first 12 weeks of the 2025 season before injuries contributed to a late-season slide. With several players, including Micah Parsons, out of action, the Packers allowed an average of 372.5 yards in the last six weeks of the regular season and 445 in a playoff loss.

During the 2024 season, the Packers finished No. 6 in points allowed and No. 5 in yards allowed.
