The Los Angeles Rams were one win away from a rematch with the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game next Sunday, and the only team in their way was the Chicago Bears. The Rams went on the road against the NFC North champions tonight, the first time they faced the Bears since last season.

The odds suggested the Rams should win this game but in the playoffs, anything can happen – especially being on the road in a difficult environment at Soldier Field.

The Bears didn’t make it easy on the Rams and had one of the most miraculous fourth-quarter touchdowns you’ll ever see, but the Rams won it in overtime, 20-17.

Matthew Stafford marched the offense down the field and got them into field goal range, which is when Mevis took over. He drilled a 42-yarder to win it and send the Rams to the NFC title game with a 20-17 win.

Kamren Curl picks off Caleb Williams

Curl was already having a great game but it got even better with his overtime interception on Williams’ deep pass on second down.

Rams go three-and-out to start overtime

The Rams ran the ball three times with Kyren Williams but he was stopped in the backfield on third down, forcing another Ethan Evans punt.

Bears tie it with miraculous touchdown

On fourth-and-4, Caleb Williams retreated way back and chucked it deep to the end zone, where Cole Kmet was waiting for it and made the easy catch to tie the game, 17-17.

The Rams kneeled it down to end the fourth quarter, sending the game to overtime.

Rams 17, Bears 17

Rams punt it away after one first down

The Rams took the ball after stopping the Bears on fourth down but did little with it. After one first down, the Rams ran it on third-and-10 before the 2-minute warning, as Kyren Williams came up short and forced the punt.

Rams stop the Bears on fourth-and-goal

The Bears went for it on fourth down after getting to the Rams’ 2-yard line with less than 5 minutes to play, but Omar Speights deflected Caleb Williams’ pass in the end zone to force the turnover on downs.

Rams take back the lead on Kyren Williams’ second TD

After Matthew Stafford’s third-down pass to Konata Mumpfield fell incomplete, Sean McVay went for it on fourth-and-1, handing it off to Puka Nacua on a jet sweep. He moved the chains and on the very next play, Kyren Williams ran into the end zone from 5 yards out for his second touchdown and a 17-10 lead.

Rams 17, Bears 10

Colby Parkinson makes the longest catch of the night

After a few runs by Kyren Williams, the Rams threw it to Parkinson and beat the blitz with a short throw that turned into a 35-yard gain down the right side. It was the longest reception by any player in this game.

End of 3rd quarter: Rams 10, Bears 10

It was a scoreless third quarter for both teams as each offense stalled. The Rams had it three times and punted after each possession, while the Bears punted once and threw an interception.

The Bears still have it entering the fourth quarter with a critical fourth-and-2 coming.

Rams waste excellent field position

After Williams’ interception, the Rams got the ball at the 50-yard line. Sean McVay called three straight passes, all of which fell incomplete. Los Angeles wasted the best field position for any team all night by going three-and-out and punting.

Cobie Durant comes down with his second interception

They call him the Land Shark, but he’s also a pure ball hawk in the secondary. He came up with his second interception of the night in the third quarter, lurking underneath for the pick on a bad throw by Caleb Williams. It set the Rams up at midfield with the game still tied, 10-10.

It’s Durant’s third interception this postseason.

Rams punt on first drive of second half

The Rams came out running the ball with Blake Corum but the drive stalled when Matthew Stafford’s pass to Puka Nacua on third down fell incomplete, as it was thrown behind the star receiver.

Halftime: Rams 10, Bears 10

Just before halftime, the Rams got an all-important three points. They drove down the field and got into the red zone but with no timeouts, they had to be conservative and throw it three times into the end zone.

Harrison Mevis made a 32-yarder to tie the game at halftime.

Tyler Higbee comes up with big 27-yard catch

On the Rams’ drive before halftime, Matthew Stafford hit Tyler Higbee for a 27-yard gain on a wheel route. It was a great throw and an even better catch by Higbee to get the offense moving.

Injury update: Emmanuel Forbes returns to the game

Forbes returned to the game after suffering a shoulder injury in the first quarter, which caused him to be listed as questionable.

Bears take their first lead of the night

Following a Rams punt, the Bears went 33 yards in five plays to get into field goal range, helped by a 27-yard pass from Williams to Rome Odunze. Cairo Santos made the 48-yarder to put the Bears up for the first time.

Bears 10, Rams 7

Rams stop Bears on fourth down for second time

For the second time tonight, the Rams stopped the Bears on fourth down, once again in field goal range. The Bears passed up a 50-yard field goal try and went for it on fourth, but Kyle Monangai was stopped at the line of scrimmage by Kamren Curl for the turnover on downs.

Omar Speights made a big stop on third down the play prior to force fourth down, too.

Rams leaning heavily on the pass early

After three possessions, the Rams have been a pass-heavy team so far. They’ve thrown 15 passes and only run the ball six times, all by Kyren Williams. Stafford has been sacked twice, too, so of the 23 plays they’ve run, 17 have been drop-backs.

Emmanuel Forbes Jr. questionable to return

Forbes suffered a shoulder injury in the first half of the game and is officially questionable to return. The injury may have occurred on a tackle attempt against Bears running back Kyle Monangai in the first quarter.

Back-to-back three-and-outs by Rams and Bears

Early in the second quarter, each team went three-and-out. The Rams punted after an incompletion to Terrance Ferguson on third down, a play where they didn’t appear to be on the same page.

The Rams then got a stop on the Bears’ ensuing possession after a pass to Colston Loveland was short of the sticks.

Bears answer with a TD of their own

The Bears answered the Rams’ touchdown with a score of their own, going 80 yards in 12 plays. The touchdown came on a 3-yard pass from Caleb Williams to D.J. Moore on fourth-and-goal, an aggressive call by Ben Johnson and a spectacular throw by the Bears QB.

Rams 7, Bears 7

Rams strike first with Kyren Williams touchdown

After stopping the Bears on fourth down to start the game, the Rams took the ball and marched their way down the field and got on the board first. They went 85 yards in 14 plays, capped off by a 4-yard rushing touchdown by Williams on second-and-goal.

The Rams couldn’t have asked for a better opening drive, rushing for 18 yards and throwing for 67 yards.

Rams 7, Bears 0

Rams intercept Caleb Williams on opening drive

The Rams gave up a 27-yard return on the opening kickoff and then a 34-yard catch by D.J. Moore but the defense didn’t break. The Bears got into fourth-and-2 from the Rams’ 21-yard line and went for it, but the attempt failed.

Caleb Williams’ pass sailed over everyone’s head and into the arms of Cobie Durant, who picked it off.

Rams inactives: Tutu Atwell is a healthy scratch

Atwell is shockingly among the Rams’ inactives tonight despite having no injury designation from the week of practice.

Below are the Rams’ seven inactives.

Rams 28, Bears 24: This is a pretty evenly matched game. Both teams have true franchise quarterbacks under center, as well as impressive run games and talented receiving corps. The Bears have the advantage of being at home in Chicago, but the Rams are road warriors who can win anywhere in any conditions.

The weather will certainly be a factor tonight with temperatures in the teens and wind making it feel even colder, but the Rams are built to have success in these conditions. They can run the ball with Kyren Williams and Blake Corum, leaning on their physical offensive line throughout the night.

Matthew Stafford is used to playing in chilly weather, too, going back to his days in Detroit as a member of the NFC North. He lit up the Eagles in the snow last year and could do the same to a below-average Bears defense. The Rams just need to avoid turnovers and take care of the ball because no team had more takeaways than the Bears this year.

The Rams are arguably the best team left in the playoffs and will advance to their second NFC title game in four years.
