The Seattle Seahawks embarrassed their divisional rival San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, defeating them 41-6 in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs. They’ll now host their other NFC West rival, the Los Angeles Rams, in next weekend’s NFC Championship Game. Saturday’s triumph was a top-five playoff win in Seahawks history.
The Seahawks led from literally the opening seconds when Rashid Shaheed returned the opening kickoff for a 95-yard touchdown. It was 17-0 Seahawks by the conclusion of the first quarter. Kyle Shanahan’s undermanned squad never looked capable of even competing.
It was a legendary evening at Lumen Field. When discussing the best playoff wins in Seahawks history, obviously the 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII stands alone. The 2013 NFC Championship Game win over the 49ers that led to the only Super Bowl win in franchise history is probably No. 2. The 2005 NFC Championship Game victory over the Carolina Panthers is also a top-five moment.

Saturday’s brushing aside of the 49ers possesses a strong argument to be the fourth-greatest victory in Seahawks postseason victory. The Seahawks have two more games to win. Hopefully when the 2025 NFL playoffs conclude, this game will be remembered as a footnote en route to a second Super Bowl title.
