Late Saturday evening, Atlanta Falcons president of football Matt Ryan found his man. After two weeks of interviews, that included talking to nine different candidates, the team named Kevin Stefanski the 20th head coach in franchise history.
The Falcons hosted Stefanski for an in-person interview that reportedly lasted all day and included a barbecue at Arthur Blank’s house. After that dinner, Blank reportedly offered Stefanski a contract to become the next head coach.
According to a report from Dianna Russini and Josh Kendall of The Athletic, Stefanski’s contract is for five years.
“On Saturday night, the Atlanta Falcons named Kevin Stefanski, the 43-year-old former Cleveland Browns head coach, their new head coach,” wrote Russini and Kendall. “Stefanski’s deal with the Falcons is for five years, according to a league source. He succeeds Raheem Morris, who went 20-25 in three seasons at the helm and was not retained following the 2025 season.”
The Falcons also gave former Falcons head coach Raheem Morris a five-year contract when he was hired back in 2024. However, as well all know, head coaching contracts don’t mean much when it comes to job security. Stefanski will have to perform if he wants to survive all five seasons.
