The Miami Hurricanes had an opportunity as the clock ticked down to pull out a last-minute victory over the Indiana Hoosiers in last night’s National Championship game. Still, a costly turnover by Carson Beck halted the team’s efforts. It’s what Beck did (or didn’t) do afterwards that has everyone talking about his draft status as we move into the offseason.
Afterwards, tempers flared a bit, and Carson Beck would head straight to the locker room without shaking the hand of Hoosiers QB Fernando Mendoza, who is projected to be the first pick in the 2026 NFL Draft by the Las Vegas Raiders.

Immediately after the loss, fans took to social media to voice their displeasure with Beck displaying poor sportsmanship on the college football’s biggest stage. Especially with the NFL Draft looming in 3 months.
Regardless of where Carson Beck is projected to go in the draft, which is considered to be in the mid-rounds, this is not a good look for NFL teams that are keen on sportsmanship, values, and attitudes. Beck is a veteran in the college football ranks after coming to Miami to finish up his sixth year of eligibility with the Hurricanes.
Whether or not this will hurt Beck in April remains to be seen, but it certainly cannot help his stock. Beck will have about 3 months to make good with all 32 NFL coaches and general managers.
