TOPEKA, Kan. (KCTV) – Kansas lawmakers will gather in Topeka on Wednesday to explore the Kansas City Chiefs’ Term Sheet, which includes the details for the team’s move to Kansas in 2031.
The Kansas Senate Committee on Commerce and the House Committee on Commerce, Labor, and Economic Development are holding a joint meeting in the State Capitol to review the deal between the state and the Chiefs.
The agenda includes ‘Explore Kansas City Chiefs Term Sheet,’ along with a couple of other items for Wednesday’s meeting.
KCTV5 has been made aware that the Department of Commerce will also be present at the meeting.
This comes as questions have been raised about the cost of the project and what this move means for taxpayers.

Chiefs proposed stadium funding plan raises questions about costs for Kansas consumers
At the end of December, the Chiefs shared their plan to use STAR Bonds to move across the state line in the coming years. The team is planning to build a $3 billion domed stadium in Wyandotte County and build a new practice facility and headquarters in Olathe.
The team is set to move to Kansas by the 2031 season.
