Panthers wide receiver named Pro Football Writers of America Rookie of the Year

  • January 21, 2026

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan was named the Pro Football Writers of America Rookie of the Year on Tuesday — but that wasn’t his only honor.

He also won Offensive Rookie of the Year.

McMillan finished his rookie campaign 14th overall in the league with 1,014 yards, seven touchdowns, and 70 receptions, leading all rookie pass-catchers in each category.

The 1,014 receiving yards were also the most by a rookie in franchise history, while his seven touchdown catches are the second most.

“T-Mac, he was him,” bragged quarterback Bryce Young of his top receiver. “He was, he’s exactly who he’s been. He was elite; he’s a special player.”

McMillan is the first player in Carolina history to be selected as the Pro Football Writers of America Rookie of the Year and is the second Panthers player to be Offensive Rookie of the Year, joining quarterback Cam Newton, who won the award in 2011.

“He’ll be the offensive rookie of the year,” Young predicted earlier this year. “I have all the confidence in the world, again, a special guy, stuff you can’t teach.”
