One of the minor problems the Broncos will have at the end of this season is going to be replacing coaches who leave for greener pastures. At this point and time, Vance Joseph, Jim Leonard, Darren Rizzi, and Davis Webb are all rumored to have opportunities with other teams this offseason.

What makes this even more precarious is that the coaches are leaving due to the wild success of the team. That means with the Broncos still playing, they may miss out on some of the talented names out there.

As an example, Robert Selah would have been a guy who could have been an interesting fit with Vance leaving. Sean Payton historically likes to work with veteran defensive coordinators, and the pickings might be slim by the time the Broncos’ season is over.

I don’t think Sean Payton will have problems getting people to come work with him, but for those who like to dream, a pairing of Mike McDonald with Sean Payton coaching Bo Nix has already died, which is a shame.

Losing Vance Joseph is an honest travesty. I love what he’s done with this defense. Jim Leonard’s leaving would suck because if he stayed, at least they would have some continuity if he was promoted to defensive coordinator.

With Rizzi and Webb, I don’t think the team will lose that much. I feel like our special teams unit has been average overall, and while I love the relationship Webb has with our quarterback room, we can bring in another guy who can do that job just as well.

Honestly, I’d not want this season any other way, though. Needing to replace coaches is a great problem to have. Also, I know this ownership group has the funds to keep as many of the coaches as Sean wants to keep.
