GLENDALE – After the Tennessee Titans hired Robert Saleh to be their next head coach, the Arizona Cardinals are forced to pivot. Saleh was considered one of the top candidates for the job, which allow a new name to rise up the ranks in former Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott. The 2022 coach of the year has had seven-straight season with 10+ wins and one of the most well-respected minds in the NFL.

Arizona is looking gain any sort of relevancy and McDermott could be the answer. However, would the 51-year-old even consider the Cardinals job?

Can Cardinals get interview with McDermott?

Reports have indicated that the franchise doesn’t even have an interview scheduled with the former Bills head coach, but does have one with the offensive coordinator in Joe Brady. In the past three seasons as the OC, Brady has called the sixth, second and fourth best scoring offense in the league. The prowess of MVP quarterback Josh Allen helped, but Brady has done quite well with the pieces at his disposal.

Brady has never been a head coach at any level, and the more prototypical coaching candidate in the NFL at 36 years old. Regardless, Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill stated that he only cares about wins and losses, making McDermott an obvious choice.

The nine-year Bills head coach has the same amount of 10-win seasons in his coaching career than the Cardinals do in the past 50 years. McDermott has built a winning culture in Buffalo, and Bidwill claimed that the organization will be searching for a coach that fulfills that requirement.

Arizona not already having an interview scheduled with McDermott is malpractice. Despite him likely not even considering the job, general manager Monti Ossenfort not able to get McDermott in the building is a back look.
