About a week after the Pittsburgh Steelers learned they’ll need a new head coach next season, the Buffalo Bills entered the fray, too. The latter is now after one of the former’s candidates, as Terry Pegula’s team wants to interview Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver.
“As the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers continue to show strong interest in Anthony Weaver for head coach, the Buffalo Bills have also submitted a request to interview the Dolphins defensive coordinator for head coach, per sources,” The Athletic’s Dianna Russini wrote Wednesday morning on X.
The Steelers have virtually interviewed Weaver and have an in-person discussion scheduled for sometime this week. Weaver has also spoken to the Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons, the latter of whom landed on former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski as their next leader.

Weaver, 45, served as the Ravens’ defensive line coach and assistant head coach from 2021-23. He was drafted by Baltimore in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft and played four seasons for the team.
The Steelers have also interviewed Chris Shula, Nate Scheelhaase, Jesse Minter, Brian Flores, Ejiro Evero and Klay Kubiak. They’re also scheduled to talk to Mike McCarthy.
If Weaver does leave Miami to take a head coaching job, the Dolphins will be in line for a pair of compensatory third-round draft picks — one in 2026 and another in 2027 — as part of the league’s initiative to reward teams for hiring minorities in their organizations’ coveted positions.
