There is a candidate in the Arizona Cardinals‘ search for a new head coach who has not come up until today, and he is already at a second interview.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile is flying in to Arizona Wednesday night have an in-person second interview with the Cardinals on Thursday.
His initial interview was never reported.
Campanile was a defensive coordinator in the NFL for the first time in 2025. The Jaguars had the league’s No. 1 run defense and were ranked eighth in points allowed and 11th in yards allowed. In the Jaguars’ eight-game winning streak to end the regular season, they did not allowed more than 20 offensive points, allowing an average of 14.5 points per game.
Before last season, in 2024, he was the linebackers coach and defensive run game coordinator for the Green Bay Packers, and from 2020-2023, he coached linebackers for the Miami Dolphins.

From 2012-2019, he was in the college ranks with Rutgers, Boston College and Michigan.
With Campanile, the Cardinals have now interviewed or requested to interview 15 candidates. Two they wanted to meet with for a second time — Jeff Hafley and Robert Saleh — were hired as head coaches by the Dolphins and Tennessee Titans.
With his scheduled interview and an initial interview with Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, things appear to have turned a bit in the search. We will see if there ends up being any news on Thursday about a new coach after meeting with Campanile.
