The Las Vegas Raiders are continuing to conduct a thorough search for their next head coach. The Raiders have interviewed a total of 14 candidates, but three of them have already been hired elsewhere. That leaves John Spytek, Mark Davis, and Tom Brady with 11 remaining options.

The Raiders have conducted three in-person interviews. One of them was with Mike McDaniel, who has agreed in principle to become the Los Angeles Chargers’ next offensive coordinator. Ejiro Evero and Jesse Minter are the remaining candidates who were interviewed in person.

The slow playing process could indicate the Raiders’ preferred candidate is still coaching in the NFL playoffs, preventing them from setting up an in-person interview. More than half (6) of the remaining candidates are still competing in the postseason. That includes Broncos QB coach Davis Webb and Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak.

Jordan Schultz is reporting that the Raiders may be focusing on an offensive-minded head coach to pair with likely No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza. Webb and Kubiak would certainly check those boxes.

The Raiders will be able to schedule interviews with Webb and/or Kubiak next week. If their respective teams win and advance to the Super Bowl, rules will permit them to have virtual or in-person interviews during the bye week between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl. If they’re eliminated, well, they’re obviously available to interview.
