During Nick Sirianni’s tenure as the Philadelphia Eagles’ Head Coach, the organization has seen three different coordinators get opportunities to become Head Coaches since 2022.
This is one of the major reasons why the Eagles are in the predicament they are in 2026, having to look for a new Offensive Coordinator for the third straight offseason. Seemingly every year, Philadelphia is in search of new coaches.
Ahead of the 2024 season, the Eagles overhauled their coaching staff and brought in what was an elite staff that was an important catalyst in winning Super Bowl 59. But the latest coach leaving Philadelphia is someone who is departing for an NFC East rival.
Former Eagles Coaching getting an opportunity to be a Defensive Coordinator
Defensive Backs Coach Christian Parker has become a popular name around the NFL for different openings. Before joining Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio’s staff in Philadelphia, Parker coached with the Denver Broncos (2021-2023), and the Green Bay Packers (2019-2021).
Multiple NFL Insiders broke the news on Thursday afternoon that the Dallas Cowboys are hiring Christian Parker to be their next Defensive Coordinator. This will be the first opportunity that Parker has to work as an NFL Defensive Coordinator, and the first time the Cowboys have hired a DC without previous experience running a defense in the NFL since they promoted Mike Zimmer in 2000.
Parker was a candidate for Green Bay’s Defensive Coordinator job back in 2024 before the Packers hired Jeff Hafley for the job. At 34 years old, he is one of the youngest coaches to be hired to be an NFL Defensive Coordinator since Zachary Orr (hired at 32 years old by the Baltimore Ravens in 2024), and Nick Rallis (hired at 30 years old by the Arizona Cardinals in 2023).
What is interesting is that there is no direct connection for Christian Parker on the current Dallas Cowboys coaching staff. ESPN NFL Nation Cowboys Reporter Todd Archer says he made a ” big impression on the organization” during his in-person interview, and that led Dallas to offer him their Defensive Coordinator job 24 hours later.
Parker has been given credit for the development of the Philadelphia Eagles’ Star Corners Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell. This will be the fourth straight season the Cowboys will have a different man working as Defensive Coordinator after Dallas fired Matt Eberflus after allowing the most Points Per Game against of any NFL defense last season (30.1 PPGA).
