Dan Campbell’s got a lot of love in Detroit, but fans aren’t going to wait forever. They want a Super Bowl, and every close call just makes things tighter.

That goodwill dropped a bit this week after the team brought in Drew Petzing as offensive coordinator. Petzing’s coming from Arizona, where the Cardinals couldn’t hit 30 points once all last season.

Fans let everyone know how they felt about it. A bunch of them were banking on former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel getting the job. Detroit poked around but ended up going with Petzing.

That blew up Lions message boards and got the rest of the NFL talking.

Amon-Ra St. Brown didn’t like what he was seeing at all. He recently hopped on his podcast and ripped into fans, basically saying they don’t know ball or anything about front office decision-making.

“I see crazy Lions fans talking crazy, like, ‘Oh, why would we do this?’ Like, bro, do you guys have no trust in Dan, in the Lions? You think they would just hire a random dude? You think they don’t know what they’re doing, they don’t do their research, they don’t interview?” St. Brown said.

“Most of you guys don’t know really much about anything, about any ball, and you’re tweeting about a coach that was hired that you guys don’t like because X, Y, Z.” he added.

St. Brown just finished another big season. He racked up 1,401 receiving yards, good for fifth in the league, and tied for the most touchdowns with 11.

The bet now is that Petzing gets the offense humming and puts Detroit back near the top.

If it goes sideways, the complaints are gonna get louder. St. Brown already sees it coming, and he’s made it clear, most fans don’t really know what they’re watching.
