New Atlanta Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski is bringing a familiar name with him to the NFC East.
Former Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees was named the offensive coordinator for Atlanta on Friday. Rees and Stefanski both worked together last season for the Browns where he also called the plays on offense. Rees originally joined Stefanski back in 2024 as Cleveland’s passing game coordinator and tight ends coach.
As the play caller in Cleveland in 2024, Rees worked with three different starting quarterbacks, Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders which surmounted to one of the NFL’s worst passing attacks averaging just 165.2 yards per game. But rookie running back Quinshon Judkins and tight end Harold Fannin Jr. were bright spots for a struggling Cleveland offense which will not continue its rebuild.
After spending six seasons at Notre Dame, Rees joined the Crimson Tide in 2023 as the offensive coordinator for Nick Saban’s final season in the program. Alabama was able to win the SEC Championship and make the College Football Playoff under Rees’ command where it would ultimately lose to Michigan in overtime at the Rose Bowl.
