Are the Indianapolis Colts a potential landing spot for top free agent pass rusher Trey Hendrickson?
Ultimately, we won’t know that answer until free agency opens in mid-March, but there are quite a few reasons why he could end up with the Colts.
For starters, the Colts have already shown previous interest in Hendrickson. Last offseason, when the Bengals were potentially trading Hendrickson, the Colts reportedly called Cincinnati to check in.
In addition to that, Hendrickson is very familiar with Colts’ defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo after the two were both in Cincinnati for a number of years.
Defensive end is also a huge need for the Colts. Adding more depth and pass-rush juice should be one of GM Chris Ballard’s top priorities.

After GM Chris Ballard was more aggressive in free agency last offseason, it sounds like the Colts plan to take a similar approach this year.
Indianapolis is in “good shape,” as Ballard put it, salary cap-wise as well.
Nothing is guaranteed in the NFL, but as free agency gets closer, Hendrickson’s name will be one to watch.
For several seasons, Hendrickson has been one of the most disruptive pass rushers in football. This included leading the NFL in sacks in 2024. This past year, however, he was limited to only seven games due to injuries.
