After a week of rumors, the Atlanta Falcons have officially hired Tommy Rees as their new offensive coordinator. Rees will replace Zac Robinson, who took the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator job on Thursday.

Rees previously served as the Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator under Stefanski in 2025 after joining the staff as an assistant in 2024. Prior to his stint in Cleveland, Rees was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Alabama in 2023, and held the same role at Notre Dame from 2020-2023.

Cleveland’s offense finished 30th in yards per game (262.1) and 31st in total points (16.4 points per contest) last season as the team struggled to settle on a starting quarterback. Joe Flacco opened the year as the starter, then Dillon Gabriel stepped in before Shedeur Sanders took over to close out the season.

Rees is a former quarterback himself, playing four years at Notre Dame from 2010-2013. After failing to catch on in the NFL, Rees became a graduate assistant at Northwestern in 2015. He then spent one season as an offensive assistant for the San Diego Chargers before returning to Notre Dame a quarterbacks coach form 2017-2019.

Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will return in the same role next season. Atlanta also added offensive line coach Bill Callahan and Jacqueline Roberts as manager of coaching operations. Running backs coach Michael Pitre, assistant offensive line coach Nick Jones and senior defensive assistant Dave Huxtable have also been retained.
