The Kansas City Chiefs have kept busy with staff moves this offseason, with the departures and additions of new coaches and coordinators. The latest update focuses on their defense, with veteran defensive line coach Joe Cullen interviewing with another team for a potential coordinator job.
According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Cullen was recently requested for an interview by the Baltimore Ravens for the defensive coordinator job. His past success with the Ravens from 2026-2020 led to his first NFL defensive coordinator opportunity. The veteran coach recently interviewed for the Washington Commanders.
Cullen has been with the Chiefs since 2022, but previously served as the Jacksonville Jaguars’ defensive coordinator in 2021. He previously spent five years coaching in Baltimore. Kansas City had the NFL’s second-best scoring defense in 2023, and was ranked fourth and sixth in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
